Have Phone Number, Need Address

Many people who have a phone number, need an address too. This is often because they've been receiving prank or nuisance calls, which can be very worrying especially if you're a woman who lives alone, or an older person. You may have a phone number, but need an address so you can either find out who's calling, or report them to the police. Another common reason people need to find who owns a telephone number is if they suspect their spouse or partner is cheating on them. If you're in one of these situations yourself, you'll need a way to match a phone number to a person. So what can you do?

In the first instance, there are a couple of free things you can do. The first is a simple Google search. To be honest, it's not very likely that the number you key in will be listed, but it's worth a try. It might be a business number which has been listed somewhere on the internet. You could also try searching the white pages - they have a reverse phone number service, but unfortunately it only works for land lines. Cell phones aren't covered.

If you're feeling brave, you could just call the number to find out who it is! If you're not that bold, or more likely, you don't want to risk making the situation worse, get a friend to do it. They can always make up a reason why they're calling - maybe they had a missed call on their mobile phone and were just curious who it was.

Eventually though, if you've exhausted these options and really need the address of the phone number, you'll need to use a paid Reverse Phone Lookup service. You simply key in the number, and it should tell you the name and address of the person it's registered to. Don't be tempted by a free service - they are at best incomplete, and at worst inaccurate. Imagine the situation if you wrongly accused your partner of cheating, or wrongly accused a complete stranger of harassing you!
